Meet Our Animals

Joy and Sophie Pia

Joy was the first daughter born to Harriet and Gerald on 12/19/2019.

Sophie was born 9/18/2021

Gerald

Gerald was born on October 11, 2013 Gerald was the first giraffe at Highpoint and came to his forever home with us at 6 months of age!

He is incredibly sweet, loves attention and Wasa crackers.

Finn “Finnegan O’Malley”

Finn was born on 3/16/2024.

Harriet

Harriet was born on 11/17/ 2016.

Harriet is the mom to Joy, Sophie and Finn! She is a great mom and loves browse and crackers!

Leonardo Di Capybara

Born: 10/03/2018

Resides with Catie Capybara

They enjoy swimming in their pond and their favorite snacks are corn and watermelon! Did you know that capybaras are the largest rodent in the world?!

Wally Watermelon and Fat Amy

Wally watermelon was born on 8/31/2022.

Fat Amy was born on 4/01/2023.

Both Wally and Amy love spending time swimming. They are incredibly social and love getting belly rubs!

Rocky the Aldabra Tortoise

Rocky aka Tank is our oldest resident at Highpoint Haven and is estimated to be 102 years old

He formerly resided at San Diego Zoo in the 1970s

Aldabra tortoises are one of the largest species of tortoises and can weigh over 500 pounds and live between 150-200 years!

Lola the southern tamandua

Lola is a southern tamandua found in central and South America.

Tamandua known as lesser anteater are arboreal and can be found on the ground and in the trees

Tamanduas and other anteaters can eat up to 9000 ants and termites per day!

Rosie the Dromedary Camel

Rosie, our one humped, or dromedary camel is big on personality!

She loves to interact with guests and is very curious

Fun Fact: Camel do not store water in their hump! It is actual fat storage!

Lauren grew up with a passion for animals and received a conservation zoology degree from Auburn University in 2009 and has been at Highpoint Haven since 2019.

I was born in São Paulo,SP-Brazil but raised in Texas since I was 4 years old when my Dad came to the USA to work as an “Equine Dentest”. I have been around animals my entire life.

My contact with animals began when I was still a child, my holidays were always on my grandparents farm, in contact with nature and animals!

Welcome to Highpoint Haven.

Our mission is to inspire and educate people about the beauty, care and conservation of giraffes and tapirs. We hope that our animals will serve as ambassadors to inspire you to make a difference for their wild cousins. We diligently work to increase the knowledge of giraffes, tapirs and other species in our care through collaborations and sharing resources with both public zoos and private owners. Through our commitment to animal welfare and animal training we strive to provide the best home possible for the animals in our care.

One bedroom penthouse in giraffe barn.

No pets.
2 Adults only.
1:00pm check in / Noon check out.
Fully furnished, full kitchen, full bath.
$2,500 per night. Customized tour included.
This is an experience and a unique opportunity.
1,200 sqft, one bedroom penthouse in giraffe barn.

Come join us on October 26, 2024 for our Open House and Stallion Showcase. We’ll have vendors, live music and exotic animals. The event starts at 10:00am and is at 11015 Cole Rd. Pilot Point, TX.
